Frequently Asked Questions.

Perth Wedding DJ – Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should we book a wedding DJ in Perth?

For Perth’s peak wedding season (September–April), securing your DJ 12–18 months in advance is ideal. The most sought-after DJs book out early - specially for Saturdays and once your date is gone, it’s gone.

Do you also act as an MC, or should we hire a separate one?

We can provide full MC services - and many couples choose this option for a seamless experience. Having the same professional control both the music and the flow of the night means no missed moments, no awkward silences, and a smooth, elegant pace from start to finish.

How do you personalise the music for our wedding style and crowd?

We take your music vision - your must-plays, do-not-plays, and favourite genres - and blend it with our ability to read the energy of the room in real time. This means the soundtrack feels like your story, while still keeping the dance floor buzzing all night.

Can we give you a “do not play” list?

Absolutely. Your wedding soundtrack should reflect you - which sometimes means keeping certain tracks off the table. We follow your list to the letter.

How do you handle guest song requests on the night?

We’ll take them if you’re happy for us to - but our priority is your vision. If a request fits your style and the dance floor mood, it makes the cut. If not, we handle it gracefully so the vibe stays on point.

What happens if you get sick or can’t make it?

We have a hand-picked network of equally professional backup DJs and matching equipment ready to go. Your wedding will never be left without world-class entertainment.

How much space and power do you need for your DJ setup?

A comfortable 3m x 2m space with one standard power outlet is usually perfect. We confirm all details with your venue in advance so setup is stress-free.

Have you worked at our Perth wedding venue before?

Chances are, yes. I’ve performed at most top-tier wedding venues across Perth, the Swan Valley, and surrounds. If it’s a new space for us, we’ll liaise directly with your venue and, if needed, do a site visit before your big day.

Do you provide your own sound and lighting equipment?

Yes - we supply industry-leading sound and lighting systems that deliver exceptional clarity, warmth, and visual atmosphere. We also carry backups for all key equipment because perfection has no room for “technical difficulties.”

Can you also provide ceremony or cocktail hour music?

Yes - we can curate beautifully balanced soundscapes for your ceremony, pre-dinner drinks, and dinner service, before transitioning into high-energy reception mode without disrupting the flow.

How do you make sure the dance floor stays full?

It’s part science, part art - and entirely experience. I read the crowd, mix live, and sequence songs so energy builds naturally. No jarring changes, no filler tracks - just a steady journey that keeps people dancing for hours.

Do you visit the venue before the wedding day?

If it’s new to us, absolutely. We want to understand the acoustics, power access, and layout so we can deliver flawless sound and presentation.

How do you coordinate with photographers, videographers, and venue staff?

We work as part of your event team, ensuring every key song, announcement, and moment is perfectly timed for both the guests and the cameras.

What genres and eras of music do you specialise in?

From timeless classics to modern hits - R&B, pop, house, funk, soul, and more - we specialise in creating a blend that speaks to all ages while keeping the dance floor magnetic.

Do you mix live, or do you play pre-made playlists?

We mix live, always. Every transition is crafted in the moment so your music flows organically with the mood of the night.

What’s your dress code for weddings?

We match your event’s formality - from black tie to smart casual - ensuring we blend seamlessly with your aesthetic.

How early do you arrive to set up?

We arrive 2-3 hours prior to your booking start time, giving ample room for setup, sound checks, and final tweaks before the first guest walks in.

Can you work with live musicians as part of our entertainment?

Yes - we frequently collaborate with live saxophonists, percussionists, and vocalists, offering you the best of both worlds: the versatility of a DJ with the magic of live performance.

How do we secure our date, and what’s your payment schedule?

A booking fee locks in your date, with the balance due 1 month before the wedding.
